Transporting the Future, One Charge at a Time

As hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs) grow in popularity, many customers wonder if transporting them differs from shipping a traditional gas-powered car. The good news? Shipping an EV or hybrid is not as complicated as it might seem—especially when you’re working with a company like Finish Line Logistics that understands the unique needs of these vehicles.
Here’s what you need to know:
Question #1 - Can Hybrid and EVs Be Shipped Like Gas Cars?
Yes! Most hybrid and electric vehicles can be shipped using open or enclosed transport—just like traditional vehicles. The primary difference lies in the battery. Because EVs carry high-voltage lithium-ion batteries, it’s important that the transport carrier is experienced with safety protocols and proper handling.
Question #2 - Are There Any Extra Steps I Need to Take?
A few, but they’re simple:
Battery Charge: Keep the battery at around 30% to 50%—not full. This reduces strain on the battery during transport.
Power Off: Make sure the car is completely shut down and not in “sleep” or “standby” mode.
Charger: You’re not required to include the charger, but if you do, secure it in the trunk.

Question #3 - Is There a Cost Difference?
Shipping an EV or hybrid may cost slightly more due to the vehicle’s weight or insurance coverage for high-value batteries, but not always. We work to negotiate fair rates that match your needs.
Question #4 - What if I Have a Low Clearance or Luxury EV?
No worries. We recommend enclosed transport for added protection, especially for low-clearance vehicles like Teslas or Lucid Airs. Let us know your vehicle’s specs, and we’ll pair it with the right equipment.
